Olympus
Olympos is the highest mountain in Greece known worldwide for its mythological context, as the Twelve "Olympian" Gods lived on top of it (Mytikas - 2.917 m) according to the religion of the ancient Greeks. It is also the second highest mountain in the Balkans, but also across Europe from the Alps to the Caucasus. Its massive mountainous masses dominate the boundaries of Macedonia and Thessaly, with a series of high peaks plunging deep ravines around which an area of particular biodiversity extends. DION PIERIAS
Dion (formerly called Malathria) is a large settlement of the Prefecture of Pieria with 1,336 inhabitants and belongs to the same name of the Municipality. Dion was an ancient city of strategic importance and one of the most famous Macedonian states. The city had a system of vertically intersecting streets, which were paved in the imperial years. In the southern part of the city were the public baths, the Great Therms. Next to the Conservatory and in the eastern section is the impressive Dionysus Mansion, with the mosaics. In the center of the city is the episcopal basilica and outside the walls the cemetery basilica. In Dion there are several sanctuaries, most important of which are the goddess Demeter (the most ancient Macedonian sanctuary) and Isis, and part of the stadium where the Olympia gymnastics were held. PLATAMONAS
Platamon is located in the Prefecture of Pieria, at the southern end of the island, at the foot of Mount Olympus. Bordering north with Neo Panteleimonas and south with New Poires. It is 38 km from Katerini and 54 km from Larissa. The area is famous for its award-winning beaches, fish taverns and bars. The Castle of Platamonas is probably the most important attraction of the prefecture of Pieria and a "trademark" of the prefecture. During the Byzantine and medieval times, the history of Platamonas was identified with its famous Venetian castle. The illumination of the Castle at night adds to glamor. METEORA
Meteora is a complex of huge dark rocks that rise outside Kalambaka, near the first hills of Pindos and Hassia. The Meteora monasteries, built on the top of some of the rocks, are now the second most important monastic complex in Greece, after Mount Athos. VERGINA
Vergina is a small town in northern Greece, in the Prefecture of Imathia, in the region of Central Macedonia. The city became world famous in the year 1977, when the Greek archaeologist Manolis Andronicus discovered a burial monument including the tomb of King Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great. A great deal of artwork came to light from the tombs, a lot of gold, including the shrine with the incinerated remains of Philip II and its golden oak wreath. The findings have been found since 2000 at the Museum of the Archaeological Site, which is located in the hillside. Nei Pori is a seaside village in Pieria with 733 inhabitants, according to the 2011 census. The main occupation in the village is the tourist business.
